Mille Miglia 2017

A vintage Bugatti wows racing fans in Radicofani

I was fortunate to be in Tuscany last May during the annual running of the Mille Miglia antique auto race. Since 1927 this race has zipped from Brescia to Rome and back again over the course of four days. On the third day, which has the drivers going from Rome to Parma, the race goes through the towns of Radicofani, where I watched it last year, and San Quirico d’Orcia, which is just up the road from our new place in Castiglione d’Orcia. Imagine the sound and color of 1,000 vintage cars roaring by and spectators yelling “gasse, gasse”  at the Ferrari drivers asking them to rev up the high powered  engines as they pass. It’s an event for young and old and sure to be as thrilling this year as it was for me last year.

The week of May 20-27 is still available to rent at Casa Castigliana. Contact me at cozyholidayrentals@gmail.com if interested.
